Great software teams are well connected to their customers

One of the many interesting things most of the world doesn’t understand about great software people… They simply enjoy building cool things.

Why do I like this quote?

It reminds me that an important part of my job is to make the software I work on cool – to both myself and the teams I am working with.

That means focussing the team on the business mission while also connecting them to the customers.

How do you connect your team with your customers? By bringing the user base as close as we can to the delivery team using tooling like live application telemetry (APM), user and feature analytics tools, user-forum and feedback tools,  and good old-fashioned direct customer interactions.
